Fashion in the early 1900’s still had much influence from the styles of the late 1800’s. Most importantly was the gradual abandonment of the corset that began in a few years, but at this time curvy women were considered extremely beautiful, and the appearance of long elegant lines and femininity was desired. Long, floor-length dresses were still worn, along with big hats and the decline of the bustle. For men, the sack coat or lounge coat replaced the frock coat, and three piece suits are beginning to become a staple.
